In my proposal I stated:
The Creepy House Summer reading program offers children aged 4 – 12 an opportunity to participate in an active summer reading program. This proposal outlines creative workshops that have been devised to link to and support the aims of summer reading program.
The workshops are developed around The Creepy House Campaign, linking up ideas, illustrative branding and reading six books. The workshops explore a creative idea that can be linked to participating in the summer reading program drawing out creative expression with art materials and word craft.
The workshops are devised and offered for facilitation in a child centred approach to spiral learning, creative exploration and self expression. They aim to celebrate participation, reading, the book, story, characters, words and illustrations. Encouraging the child at their own pace to explore beyond reading through creative thinking, expressing themselves in a visual and verbal way to create a piece of art, object or writing and allowing them to share the outcome. The process of bringing reading and story further reinforces the value of reading and creative thinking skills.
The workshops can be offered as a way to create and maintain interest and emphasising positive values of being involved with the Public Library reading program in County Wexford.
Each workshop is designed as a 60 or 90 minute activity including instructions and tidy up. All workshops are facilitated by artist and educator Roisin Markham unless otherwise negotiated and agreed. See page 2 for details on workshops.
Ages 8-12 can be accommodated in groups of 8 children per adult working with them. Offering the workshops to larger groups can be solved by a local library staff member working with Roisin or sourcing a local creative trusted volunteer as per the County Councils Child protection policy. If required for larger groups Roisin Markham can bring a second creative facilitator but this will incur an extra cost.
Ages 4-7 are offered as family workshops where parents and siblings are welcomed and actively encouraged to share the creative process. This is a tried and trusted approach solving child protection as the parent stays with the child and works with them. It also supports development of family creative skills and expression. The only limit to the size of this group is the space where the workshop is offered and the amount of materials available.

Then I out lined seven workshops.
Each were described with a title, expected outcomes of the workshop, display options, describing Artist preparation, listing Art materials.

I really enjoyed programming. Looking forward to making the sample pieces and in particular working with children in every part of the county.
