Digital Undoc one year on

Original Team 'First Start' 2012 at Digital Undoc Camp
A year ago I travelled to London to attend an event that would inspire me and connect me deeply to my ambitions for technology. Digital Undoc Camp 2012 connected me to a new network of people and a project team.

Currently on the Home Migrant Pulse blog is an article about the project....

"A year later, Digital Undoc projects supporting the migrant community through the web

Last July, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation offices hosted Undoc Camp, a two-day event co-ordinated by On Road. The Supported Options Initiative commissioned us to explore the potential for social media and digital technology to meet the advice needs of young people who may not have regular immigration status or are undocumented in the UK."

I'm involved in the group that won second prize were are almost in beta phase, our working title 'First Start'. After a meeting in March the active team members have been working steadily on the project out side our typical working day. As a team we have a great mix of subject matter experts, technologists, strategists and localisation experience.
Initially I stepped away from the project thinking they have all the skills they need, I live in a different country... but my experience building a project team and kicking of a HPSU is really relevant. Even my localisation skills are getting a whole new angle to work at - I never thought I would use them or they would still be relevant! Working in a less then traditional way I also have deep knowledge of and when your building a team or a project that has to be held and supported.
I have worked on the website video connecting my creative and communication skills with tools like Camtasia. Since March I have been working as the project lead. Lots of communication required as we are all in different locations and busy with day jobs!
Some of you have heard me mention a start up, tech for good and others won't because well I have n't been talking about it that much, I've just been working on it plugging away with other team members.
This week is an important week for the project. We speak to PHF about the last year and the report I submitted on behalf of the team.
Now we start opening up conversations with services, with migrants with funding. As we build the project into its pilot area and test it for scale, now is the time to talk about it...
